You're also failing to mention stuff like Nier Automata, Octopath Traveller, Trials of Mana, FFXIV's awesome expansions, some pretty great remasters (SaGa franchise in particular), the Dragon Quest franchise altogether etc.
Click to shrink.A lot of people don't think they "butchered the story for FF7R" (flawed, sure, but still with enough of the compelling original story intact to be enjoyable), a lot of people think KHIII is still a really fun & enjoyable action RPG despite the story being the crazy mess that it is (which also makes it entertaining for some people, even if they acknowledge the writing itself isn't good), Balan Wonderworld & Quiet Man are blergh but those kinds of games existed even during their SNES, PS1 & PS2 days, Tomb Raider & Avengers aren't altogether bad games (Avengers has a decent story and the combat is at least adequate, Tomb Raiders have decent gameplay as well even though the stories are trash, but TR stories have always been crap).
